Traffic
Traffic affects all of us each and everyday. The solutions rest in a multifaceted and pro-active approach to the problem by both the public and the private sectors of our community. For starters, our efforts should concentrate on improving mass transit options, constructing alternative roadway routes, and adding new jobs within West Oahu. Many of these solutions are long and costly endeavors. Yet, we can all agree, that traffic and congestion are big problems on our Island that must be addressed right away. For that reason, we must remain dedicated at each step along the way. Only with patience, persistence, and community solidarity will we successfully solve our traffic woes.

Crime and Drugs
I believe that solutions come in education and teamwork. First, we must reach children and adults before these negative elements become a part of their lives. Second, the City must work with the State and Federal resources and programs to make solutions a reality. Teamwork between residents and the police will bring the protection and enforcement necessary to bring solutions and changes. The City must provide the police resources to serve West Oahu.

Housing
Housing issues go beyond just the homeless issues that are at the forefront today. It includes providing affordable housing, employee rental housing, and housing solutions for the future of West Oahu. The magnitude of these issues will again require the City to work with the State Government, Federal agencies, and private industry. The City must take the lead in these projects to implement what has been discussed for years.

Growth
West Oahu is designated as Oahu's growth region. This growth must happen in a responsible and sensible manner. The growth must be anchored by commercial development, bringing jobs and new economies to the district. The City must work with developers to insure that responsible growth brings success to West Oahu.

Waste Management
The City Council must help implement real solutions for Oahu's landfill crisis. Otherwise, the City will find itself in the same kind of crisis is faces today. We need to look for alternatives to land filling our waste - whether it is high tech solutions like plasma arc and waste to energy conversion or low tech solutions like recycling or shipping out our waste. It is time for the City to get the job done.
